Our Beginning
The Shoemakersville Area Lions Club was chartered in August 1975 at Zuber's in Leesport and was sponsored by the Virginville Lions Club. Franklin Clark and Mark Epting came from the Virginville club and became founding members of the Shoemakersville organization.
George Bracy was the first paid charter member. Early meetings were held at the Union House on Main Street in Shoemakersville, and the club's members were installed by Gerald DeTurk of the Fleetwood Lions Club.
