The Shoey Lions have promoted a Flashlight Pumpkin Hunt for local children as part of the community's fall calendar.
A 2021 borough newsletter listed the event for ages 0–12 at Perry Township Recreation Area, with prizes plus free hot dogs and snacks for children. A 2020 announcement also described the same general tradition.
